U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rules that California’s Proposition 8  is unconstitutional A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of  Appeals has issued its long-awaited opinion on whether Proposition 8  violates the civil rights of gay men and lesbians. Proposition 8 was a 2008 California ballot measure that banned same-sex  marriage. U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rules that California’s Proposition 8  is unconstitutional

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has issued its long-awaited opinion on whether Proposition 8 violates the civil rights of gay men and lesbians.

Proposition 8 was a 2008 California ballot measure that banned same-sex marriage. In August 2010, a federal judge struck down the ban, which was left in place during the appeals process.
